Sage Stallone, Son Of Sylvester, Found Dead In LA At Age 36

Posted: 13 Jul 2012 11:03 PM PDT

Sage Stallone

Right on the heels of The Expendables 2 panel, one of this year's highlights from the San Diego Comic-Con, in which Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzengger traded barbs, fun anecdotes, and an absolute mutual respect for one another, comes the most tragic and distressing news. Sage Stallone, the 36-year-old son of Sly, was found dead on July 13, 2012 in the afternoon in his apartment in Los Angeles, California. Details surrounding his death are still unknown, but police note that Stallone was alone when found and a toxicology report will be pending.

Stallone was born May 5, 1976 to Sly and his then wife Sasha Czack. He was the oldest of Sylvester Stallone's children and was brother to Seargeoh Stallone and half brother to Sistine, Sophia, and Scarlet Stallone. His stepmother was Stallone's current wife, Jennifer Flavin. His uncle was sometime actor and musician Frank Stallone and his grandmother was astrologist Jackie Stallone. Reports state that Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken, and his compassion and thoughts are with Sasha. The report went on to note that Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man, whose loss will be felt forever [...]

SDCC 2012: HBOs Game of Thrones panel

HBO's Game of Thrones is undoubtedly one of the most successful series in cable history, so it's no surprise there was a rabid turnout for their SDCC Comic-Con panel on Friday. The panel began with none other than author George RR Martin as moderator.

Martin mentioned that producers David Benioff and Daniel B. Weiss regretted that they'd be unable to make the panel as they're currently on-set directing the current season. Martin also joked about the unavailability of the 13 year old co-producer in charge of boobies (a reference to a recent SNL Digital Short). [...]

SDCC 2012: Total Recall panel

The panel for Total Recall, with Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, and director Len Wiseman, started the Screen Gems/Sony Panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The remake of the 1990 classic, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, looks to be another summer smash. A new trailer filled with about six minutes of footage showed the unrelenting, action-packed, smash and dash non-stop riveting adventure and vibrant world that the character of Farrell, one Douglas Quaid, gets thrust into by way of Rekall Industries, electrified the crowd in Hall H.

Farrell spoke about filling the large shoes in taking on Arnold's role; Beckinsale expounded about being tongue in cheek about being incredulous that her husband Wiseman cast her to be a huge "bitch" as she takes on the role originated by Sharon Stone in the original production; Cranston waxed about his character (originated by Ronny Cox in the first film) and working with the film's principles; Biel spoke about the training process, which involved multitudes of boxing and chicken, and Wiseman talked of making the movie [...]

SDCC 2012: Resident Evil panel

Resident Evil: Retribution, the upcoming newest installment (its 5th) from the Resident Evil franchise, based on the video game series and one of the first supernatural films to showcase the outbreak and ultimate terror of zombies, had its panel today at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. Comprised of the film's star Milla Jojovich and supporting cast Michelle Rodriguez, Oded Fehr, Boris Kodjoe, Mika Nakashima (a pop star in Japan who needed a translator to answer her questions), and writer/director and husband of Jojovich, Paul W.S. Anderson, the panel also showcased never before seen film footage from the production in 3D that the large audience mainly ate up (no pun intended).

Starting with the said footage, which was a new trailer and introduced by the moderator of the panel, local Los Angeles DJ Ralph Garman and Anderson, who mentioned he wanted to make the first truly post apocalyptic film, which spans the globe in terms of locations, stretching in areas as wide as Tokyo to Times Square, Anderson also spoke of the depth of Jojovich's character Alice, and the fact that he wanted to make this production with the most balls-out, intense action yet in the franchise [...]

AMC's The Walking Dead presence here on Day 2 of this year's San Diego Comic-Con kicked off with moderator Chris Hardwick (The Talking Dead) introducing the panel, including executive producers Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero, Gayle Anne Hurd, and showrunner Glen Mazzara, and debuting the trailer for the upcoming Season 3 (which you can watch here below).

Kirkman, who created the comic book series that the TV show is based on, said viewers can look forward to a fully stage-built yet realistic prison set. Alpert said that the series has exceeded the vision he had in his head from the comic book. Hardwick mentioned that naysayers who complained about lack of zombies early in season two, certainly had nothing to complain about by season's end. Nicotero said he's striving to create more realistic decomposed and hungry zombies moving forward in The Walking Dead's timeline. He wants to keep the audience guessing with what effects they're going to unleash. He's recently directed his first episode and felt it rewarding to him to finally connect with the actors [...]

Geeks of Doom Netflix Streaming Review Netflix Review: Not Of This Earth

Not Of This Earth
Netflix Streaming DVD
Directed by Jim Wynorski
Starring Traci Lords, Arthur Roberts, Ace Mask, Becky LeBeau
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer
Originally Released: May 13, 1988

Heading for a change of pace in our weekly Netflix Streaming Review, this week we take a look at the cheesiness and campiness of the classic and cult B-Grade sci-fi flick, Not Of This Earth. The film has the distinct fame for being Traci Lords' first "serious" mainstream acting vehicle after her first few adult film flings. The movie is a flashback to an era of filmmaking when B-Grade flicks had their own culture and fan following, when it was acceptable and almost mandatory to include a bad story with bad acting, but special effects and lots of boobs. That is the way of things when it comes to movies like Not Of This Earth. [...]

The third and final act of Marc Forster's adaptation of the Max Brooks novel, World War Z, seems to be littered with problems of all kinds. So many problems are infecting this film, that they had to bring Damon Lindelof to pen the rewrites.

Lindelof, however, was unable to complete the task, and now the job of completing the third and final act of the film is in the hands of Cloverfield and Lost writer and Cabin in the Woods co-writer/director, Drew Goddard. [...]
